Finding a balance.

As a self-proclaimed extremist, I’m either all-in or all-out. I want it all or none at all. It is ones of my greatest strengths, but can also be a weakness. Recently I have been yo-yoing between working all through the night, and the opposite – not being able to make myself do a god damn thing. I know it’s impossible to be on your A-Game at all times – but things were starting to feel routine, I was uninspired and I wasn’t reminding myself how fortunate I am to be where I am today.

This week the world lost a beautiful soul. I did not know her personally, but followed her journey from a far because the whole thing just hits extremely close to home. I admired her strength. Her strength could literally humble the strongest of men.  And I admired that she didn’t quit living her life the way she wanted to, with incredible courage and grace, even  though every one would understand if she did. Once I heard the news it put everything into perspective. I hope you take time today to think about how fortunate you are. Not for the material things, but for health, love and the opportunity to be alive.

Work is incredibly important. It develops character, discipline and ownership that translates to and improves so many areas of your life. However, it is very small in the scope of things and it is SO important to find a balance. Work HARD – but LOVE and actually LIVE harder.
